It's okay not to be okay II Thoughts

my cup of thoughts

" Know who you are and know it's enough. "

Sometimes it's difficult to express our own feelings, not because we don't want to, but because our society tells us that sadness is a sign of weakness.
We put on a smile, we post quotes which express the exact opposite of our moods, we pretend to have a perfect life,.. we pretend. At a very young age we have been told that crying is bad, people have told us that we're not good enough, not smart enough, not pretty enough.. Sometimes it feels like everything is crashing down and eventually everything gets to much.

But here I am now telling you that it's totally okay not to be okay.

I usually never talk about my mental health, not because I don't want to, but I'm simply not good with turning feeling into words. Nevertheless people always keep asking me for help. And to be honest, I really try to help everyone, but especially in the last couple of weeks I realised that so many people don't know that it's okay to cry and to feel. Your feelings are valid, you have the right to feel whatever emotion you want.

Nowadays people don't want to admit that sometimes they feel broken, lost, confused, lonely, insecure, worthless,... Please remember that pain is not a sign of weakness, it's a feeling we all have from time to time. It's okay to admit that your life isn't perfect. Showing your feelings means that you're brave enough to show who you are.

You're not alone, there are people out there who want to help you and people who feel the same way, because it's normal. We all have good and bad days.
Sometimes it feels like you are all alone in this big world, but you're not. Remember to reach out to people, to write your feelings down and to talk about how you're really feeling.

There are ways you can get through your day and I'm not talking about medication. I think that it's so important to find something that makes you happy and that helps you to come down. Personally I really like to write poetry, but music, art, meditation, yoga, sports in general and so many other things can help you. You just need to find your answer to the question.

See you soon,

* For those of you who are struggling with mental illness and/or depressions I understand that it's even more difficult to hide yourself behind a smile. It's difficult to get up every morning, but remember that hiding your problems and getting through your problems are two different things. And sometimes you need some help to get better.
** Please note, that I'm not an expert, I can only speak from personal experience. But if you need someone to talk to I'm here for you.
